Formerly deputy of English at St Paul's Girls' School, I’ve not only marked the English comprehension paper thirteen years in a row, I’ve also written the script and its accompanying mark scheme on several occasions. I know exactly what skills the exam is designed to test, what sort of students the school is looking for, and the tutoring that best equips Year 6 students to shine on the day. Creative nurturing is the bedrock of my teaching practice and I encourage all my students irrespective of age to develop the confidence to let go, find their voice and have fun.
Since the introduction of computerised tests, it is only the very academic schools that have retained the traditional format of handwritten exams as the major means of assessment. These schools are not suitable for every child; if I feel this to be true of your child, I will be frank and suggest alternative schools. I can help prepare children for schools using the 11+ London Consortium test and the 13+ Common Entrance paper.
"Thank you for the lovely feedback. We are very happy to hear our daughter is doing so well under your wing. It is always a delight for us to hear from her that she is enjoying the lessons so much. You are an inspiration."
